What's a kilowatt?
A kilowatt, or kW for short, is a unit of power that measures the rate of energy conversion. The average annual electrical energy consumption of a household in the United States is about 8,900 kilowatt-hours.
Kilowatt-hours vs. gallons? An electric vehicle measures its fuel in kilowatt-hours. One gallon of gasoline is equivalent to 33.7 kilowatt-hours of electricity. (The average American car burns about 450 gallons of gas annually.)
